Chesterfield Bathroom Tile Replacement
On this job we arrived at this bathroom where the homeowners wanted to replace 6 or 7 completely loose floor tiles from his decade old master bathroom.
After pulling up about ten tiles, we recognized the underlayment was completely gone and the tiles were not back buttered correctly, both causing the tile job to be a complete failure in the shower area.
The osb subfloor was also very wet and moldy and needed to be replaced.
We told the homeowners that essentially the whole floor needed to be replaced and that’s what we did.
We demo’ed the entire floor and removed the old underlayment while replacing the soft, moldy parts of the subfloor.
We then laid down an uncoupling membrane to prevent any future cracking and loosening of the tile and grout and installed the 12×24 tile in a 1/3 offset pattern with ‘natural gray’ colored grout.
The job turned out very well and the homeowners are happy to have a functioning, and nice looking, bathroom floor again.
