NE Philly Townhouse Stair Upgrade And Paint

For this job in the Northeast we were hired to add a stair railing where the old one was removed years ago and remove the wallpaper in the living room and paint the room.

We removed the old stair carpet, all the staples and sanded the treads and risers.

We then painted the edges of the stairs where the runner wouldn’t cover. We then installed the stair runner.

Then we installed the new poplar stair posts and got all the angles and measurements for the handrail using 2×4’s as templates before cutting the much more expensive poplar hand rails.

Once the handrails were installed we had to use a stair baluster calculator and figure out the spacing between each baluster and drill all the holes for the balusters to sit into.

We then used a stair jig to get the balusters to the perfect length and angles.

For the removal of the living room wallpaper we just had to heat the paper was and scrape gently as it came right off and then we painted the entire room.
